How Does a Pulley Work?
Teach students about simple machines by making this pulley system. Assemble pulley as instructed at Little Bins Little Hands. Fill bucket with small heavy objects like rocks or sand. Ask students to pick it up. Then have them try to lift the bucket with the pulley. Add more wheels. Do more wheels make lifting the bucket harder or easier?
BUILD A TINKER TOY PULLEY!
What a great way to combine math and engineering in this tinkering STEM activity! In addition to tinker toys, you'll need clothespins, yarn, and a bit of play dough (to help hold the legs in place). This project is sure to be a hit with your students! Details at theottoolbox.com
AN ELEVATOR KIDS CAN COUNT ON!
Preschoolers can pretend to ride up and down the elevator, push buttons and practice counting 1 to ten, forwards and backwards. Moveable arrow allows them to show the desired floor number. Let the fun begin! RepeatCrafterMe.com
